About AquaScape Singapore

Why We Built This Resource

Singapore has a surprisingly deep aquascaping culture. Walk into any HDB neighbourhood and chances are someone nearby maintains a planted tank on their balcony or in their living room. Despite this, finding consolidated, locally relevant information has always been scattered across forum threads, Facebook groups, and word of mouth.

AquaScape Singapore exists to bring that knowledge together. We write about design techniques, species care, equipment, and the local shops and events that keep this hobby accessible. Every article reflects real experience from hobbyists who deal with the same 30-degree water temperatures, PUB chloramine levels, and HDB space constraints that you do.

We are not affiliated with any brand or retailer. Our recommendations come from personal use and community feedback, not sponsorship agreements.

Practical First

General advice is everywhere. We focus on what works specifically in Singapore's tropical climate, water conditions, and retail landscape.

Community Driven

Our content draws on conversations with local hobbyists, shop owners, and competition participants. We share what the community teaches us.

Independent Voice

No sponsorships, no affiliate links, no paid reviews. When we recommend equipment or shops, it reflects genuine experience and community consensus.

The Singapore Aquascaping Scene

Singapore punches above its weight in international aquascaping. Local hobbyists have placed in the IAPLC top 200, and the country hosts several community-organised contests each year. Specialty shops cluster in areas like Clementi, Yishun, and Serangoon, stocking everything from rare Bucephalandra to custom-cut hardscape.

The S.E.A. Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa also draws significant foot traffic and introduces many people to the underwater world for the first time. While it focuses on marine life, the interest it sparks often carries over into the freshwater hobby.

If you're new to the scene, the easiest entry point is one of Singapore's several active Telegram or Facebook groups where hobbyists share setups, trade plants, and organise meetups.
